I was having an issue. I had inquired about a free phone service from Qlink. They give out free sim cards and no phone charges. Well, I got one, I had to unlock my phone from Verizon. Did all that, put the new sim card in my android cell phone. Wasn't able to make or receive calls or texts. Found out FROM Qlink that my area is bad for service. I knew that, but I figured I'd try it anyway. Weird thing is that even though I wasn't able to make calls, my phone still showed at least 2 or 3 bars. In my case it was just bad service on Qlinks end. Once I put BACK the original sim card, everything went back to normal. Tracfone only charges me a little less then $14 a month with unlimited calling and text.
Well I had this problem both on iPhone and an android phone, and I solved by turning on "show my call I'd " did this by going to settings--> calls---> then caller ID ... this setting should be in network default as some networks don't support turning off your caller ID status
