My original windowa home server 2011 x64 OS disc is heavill scratched andno longer works. i need it to install my operating sysyem into my HP Proliant DL380 G5 server. I have a valid key still. However I still need an installer. Can anyone tell me where or how to get an iso for this operating system???
HelloI know it is best not to use a server as a desktop but can you do it with Windows Homes Server 2011. I know that you can do it on other versions of Windows Server using Terminal Services but concerned that Microsoft may have taken something out of the Home version that cripples its capability. I am thinking of primarily of Office 2010, our camera software to download pictures and a few favourite games like Spider Solitare, Freecell, Solitare, and Scrabble. I would use it as my desktop and would set up both an Administrator and a user acccount for myself.I should also tell you that I retired about 18 months ago after a 37 year career in Information Technology and still do a little consulting. I have bought, built and managed Windows Servers and desktops since 1994. I am comfortable in doing almost anything IT, just do not have any experience with this product.

I recently did a Server Recovery on my whs v1 machine. The Recovery performed fine but I discovered that the Windows Update function no longer works. in fact I now realize it was turned off some months ago. I know whs is no longer supported by Microsoft. However, I did expect that by doing a Recovery I would be able to download existing updates to get me back to the version state that I had prior to the Recovery. Specifically, the Restore stopped at Power Pack 2 and so I have lost the functionality I had with Power Pack 3. Is there a way to access PP3 and other Microsoft whs v1 updates? While the OS is no longer supported, it was providing great value for me as a behind the router/firewall home server.

Alex,Does the EX495 have a cmos battery for time maintenance? Maybe this is not the place, but I installed WHS 2011, which works fine until I have a power failure (no graceful shutdown and no UPS). When I start the server up after a power failure, the time is messed up- Jan 1, 2002??? Then, I believe, this causes my server certificates to be out of date because 2002 is not in the date range. Then, this seems to cause problems when I start up Launchpad and Dashboard, messages like, The server appears to be offline, would you like to start in the offline mode, or messages about the certificates being out of date or not there. Or Dashboard does not start at all on the server with no error message. I have been able to clear the certificate problem up after help from Microsoft, and all is fine until the next power failure.Help!!
